Félix Fonseca Quesada

Welcome to my website! I’m Félix Fonseca Quesada, an instructor at the Modern Languages Section at the University of Costa Rica, Western Campus. 

I recently completed my PhD  in Linguistics at Stony Brook University, where I worked under the supervision of Dr. Lori Repetti and Dr. Marie Huffman.

My research lies at the intersection of phonetics, phonology, second language acquisition, and experimental approaches to speech. I am particularly interested in how speakers perceive, produce, and acquire new sound patterns in a second language. More broadly, I examine how fine phonetic detail interacts with abstract phonological structure, and how language experience shapes speech learning across languages.

In Spanish, my name is pronounced [ˈfeliks], though the English pronunciation [ˈfilɪks] is perfectly fine too.
